Lesbian-Owned Sex Toy Brand Offers More For Queer Femmes

Walk into any sex toy shop and you will find all sorts of gizmos and gadgets that, supposedly, fit a wide range of people and their desires. However, when you take a closer look at many of the options, the most popular items that appear more frequently, are the toys that focus on penetration. What about the couple, or the individuals who want something different? This was the idea behind Alice Derock’s company, Wet For Her.

“I came up with the idea because my girlfriend and I were looking for just a dildo,” said Derock. “We then went to some stores and the only thing that was on the shelves was the kinky dildo with the packaging with porn girls on it. You know, long hair, high heels. And we were like, this all you have for the lesbian couple and the guy was like, yeah, you just want a strap on, and I was like, okay, I don’t want something as realistic. I want something more soft and I would like to have nice packaging not something in plastic and that smelled like petrol and other stuff like that. So, then we tried some other shops and we went it some lesbian sex stores, but it was always the same products. We went online and we tried to find something a bit different, a softer design, and something marketed more toward lesbians and we couldn’t find it. This is why it started about eight years ago.”

The innovative lesbian pleasure product designer and retailer focus their efforts on women empowerment and providing more options for those seeking pleasure and sensation beyond just penetration. Rather than having to sift through tons of more realistic-looking toys, couples who are searching for something focused on pleasure and sleeker designs can have more to choose from with Wet For Her.

“If you are looking for something realistic, then you have a lot of choices since everyone is doing realistic ones,” said Derock. “If you are looking for a dildo that is designed without the veins and the balls, then we’re really the only company offering that. We have some toys like the fusion strap-on dildo that you can use and share the pleasure. Most strap-on dildos have a flat base. That means that the girl that is wearing the harness doesn’t have sensation on her side. So, we developed the fusion dildo so that she can have pleasure on her side while she’s giving pleasure to her partner.”

Derock’s success in a male-dominated industry with Wet For Her breaks the stigma and taboo on sex toys. The products the French designer brings to the market challenge the status quo by putting queer females and women’s needs first. The brand fills the void with sex toys designed by and for lesbians.

One of their newest products, RockHer, which also follows the idea of going with a sleek design that is focused on female pleasure, has just been released in time for Valentine’s Day. RockHer was created with lesbian couples in mind. It’s the first luxury adult toy that allows the female clitoris erotic zones to touch and stimulate together simultaneously, hands-free and activated with a remote control. The product is unique and offers a different experience that allows for positions such as scissoring, missionary, cowgirl, as well as others.

“It comes with a remote control so you will have your hands free and you can do scissoring between to bodies and it will vibrate,” Derock explained. “It’s one of the only one of its kind out there. It’s unique and you won’t find it anywhere else at the moment.”

Wet For Her has become more than just a company that designs sex toys. The company has contributed to the female community by providing a line of products designed specifically for women sexual enjoyment, something that has been lacking for years. The woman run business also is more relatable to other women than other brands.

“Most of the dildos are created by guys, by men, and they only see the pleasure in penetration on the side of the person being penetrated,” Derock explained. “They don’t see the pleasure on the side of the user which, in most of the time in a lesbian couple is a girl. It’s another point of view. Dildos and sex toys designed by women. We had a few people start to copy us, but they still didn’t get it. I think the features that we put in our products, they don’t understand what they are for. Like with our double dildo, the Union, has a bullet vibrator. For the girls who wear it, they have a clitoris that will touch the dildo. For her, it is really nice to have vibration, but the guy who copied us didn’t put the bullet vibrator.”

Derock and her company has also become an inspiration to many aspiring queer female businesses and continues to lead a generation of women, and especially those who are queer, to make a difference in the community and around the world.

“Put your heart, your gut, and everything out there and [make a change],” said Derock. “I think today, the internet has given a lot of space for new ideas. You can sell directly to customers. You don’t need any more distributors. You just need a good website; a good strategy and you go. You go and sell online, and you can do your dream.”
