We believe that a song can change minds and therefore change the world. We believe that a powerful poem can give a person courage, or that a lighthearted movie can help us get through a dark night, or a dark week.
For queer folx, a good story can mean the difference between the world believing in our value and continuing to discriminate against us. Knowing our history can give us the confidence needed to continue to make moves in our community and in the world.
We also believe that the issues that face one of us faces all of us.
We believe that we are stronger and more vibrant together. We believe bonding with different people of different labels and backgrounds strengthens our understanding of each other and allows room for us to grow and collectively gain our freedom.
This is why Q26 is dedicated to promoting intersectional queer diversity in media, with a particular focus on queer people of color. Through our interviews and articles, we want to give a new platform to up-and-comers, support those that have already made it big, and let it be known that our voices matters.
We have a lot of goals for 2019, our first full year in existence. We’re planning a print magazine, events, videos, lotteries, and more! We will also be releasing new articles every month covering social justice issues, lifestyle topics, music, film, and art.
But we don't want to stop here!
For one, we want to be able to pay our core team and writers, who consist entirely of people of color who identify as LGBTQ+ and are the reason we are able to share the amazing work our community does. We also want to be able to support the talents of our communities through producing web series, short films, and documentaries. Another goal is the creation of a scholarship fund for youth in our community. Our most ambitious goal is to open a studio space, where our community can perform, educate, learn, and create at little to no fee.
With your help, we can achieve these goals and more. Together, we can build a society that is more equitable for us all. Through storytelling, we can gain our freedom. We can change the world.
