Black Lives Matter. Act Like It.

“I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”

— Angela Y. Davis

We all have a role to play in creating permanent, positive changes for the Black community. Some of us march, some of us write, some of us create, some of us create businesses, and some of us run for office. If you are an ally, you can make it a point to learn, fight for justice, and fact check folx in your community.

No matter who you are, you can support people in government who are fighting bureaucracy to make change. More importantly, you can support small black businesses and nonprofits. Your support helps create autonomy in our communities, and gives us the freedom to live independent from institutions that don’t give a rat’s ass, despite what they may sell in their stores to suggest otherwise.

One of the bravest things you can do is to say “f*ck it” to the status quo, in any way you can do so best.

Here are some black businesses and nonprofits you can support today:

Black Owned Bookstores by State

Black Owned Businesses in Los Angeles

Black Owned Lifestyle Businesses

Ethel’s Club: A Digital Membership Club Designed for People of Color to Thrive

Reclaim the Block

Black Lives Matter

Color of Change

NAACP

Civil Rights Org

Showing Up For Racial Justice
