The Queer 26 is a media arts non-profit supporting QTBIPOC creatives. Through our workshops, events, and media projects, we help our communities’ thrive while pursuing their dreams.

Mission

We understand that in order to fully support our community, we must take a holistic approach to attend to the needs of burgeoning creatives. We do this through the following:

Education

We provide a series of both zoom and in-person workshops taught by folks within the industries of film, photography, advertising, publishing, and more. These workshops offer crucial skill-building opportunities and ways for creatives to start building their portfolios.

Our Clubs offer our workshops and additional skill-building events at no cost to a select group of QTBIPOC creatives in need.

Events and Programming

Our events offer our safe spaces in which to build community, practice performances, and enjoy time with other queer creatives from across Southern California.

Annual programs like our Short Story Collection and Headshots by Donations offer creatives the chance to showcase their skills and access services that can often be very expensive at a low cost.

Promotion

Our blog not only features regular lifestyle articles, but highlights folks that are promoting their films, new music, and/or fundraising campaigns.

Our Creative Directory provides a place for QTBIPOC creatives to be seen and find other people to work with. We are also often asked for help finding crew members - we always reach out to folks from our Clubs and from the Directory.

In-House Productions and Fiscal Sponsorships

Our in-house projects provide paid opportunities for up-and-coming creatives to practice their skillsets, all while also networking and learning from other, more experienced crew members. When reaching out to hire creatives, we often reach from folks that were a part of our Clubs, attend our workshops, or sign up to our Creative Directory.
