About Willa:

Willa Cutolo (she/her) is a transgender portrait photographer and lighting designer in Los Angeles.

Photography is an inherently one-sided medium, but she challenges that by ensuring that people are fully seen, heard, and valued. Reverence for her subjects infuse her portraits with vulnerability, intimacy, and joy. Willa encourages everyone to make art about those that they love; she wants that to be her lasting impression.

She grew up moving from place to place with little to no notice. When she couldn’t find a home in Memphis, Salt Lake City, or the dozen other cities she lived in after leaving her birthplace of Brooklyn, NY, she found it within her family. Her parents documented everything with a camera when they hardly had anything else to their names. She thinks back to those precious moments whenever she’s behind the lens herself.

When she isn’t working, you can find her skateboarding, reading classics, or spending time with loved ones. She doesn’t exclusively speak in the third person.
